Gelo e descanso › Ice and rest

Após estes últimos meses envolvido em diversos trabalhos fotográficos, resolvi aproveitar a altura entre o Natal e o Ano Novo para descansar alguns dias em família. Rumei até à serra da Estrela, um local que oferece a tranquilidade e o refúgio que necessitávamos. Apesar de não haver neve (o que para mim era óptimo, pois é sinal de menos gente), a serra estava magnífica, com muita cor, e uma luz fantástica de inverno. Deu para passear, descansar e, claro, para eu fotografar. Como estava muito frio (4 graus) e a noite trazia temperaturas negativas, de dia havia imensas formações de gelo que proporcionavam fotografias espectaculares. Ao final da tarde procurámos um magnífico refúgio nas Penhas Douradas, para ler e beber um chá na companhia de uma uma lareira quentinha e uma fatia de bolo caseiro, entre outras iguarias da serra. Sem dúvida, uma força renovada para o ano que aí vem. Bom 2012!

After these last several months engaged in photographic work, I decided to take the time between Christmas and New Year to rest a few days with family. I headed up to the Serra da Estrela, a place that offers tranquility and the refuge we needed. Although there was no snow (which was great for me because it meant few people), the mountain was magnificent, with lots of colour, and a fantastic winter light . We walked, relaxed and of course I took some photos. As it was very cold (4 degrees) and the night brought sub-zero temperatures, it was possible to see huge ice formations during the day that provided great photos. In the evening we sought a magnificent refuge in Penhas Douradas, where we read and drank tea in the company of a warm fireplace and a slice of homemade cake among other delicacies of the mountain. Certainly it was a renewed strength for the year to come. Good 2012!
